Questions

Products & Materials

Alpaca fiber is a luxurious natural fiber prized for its softness, warmth, and durability. It is hypoallergenic, containing no lanolin, which makes it ideal for sensitive skin. Unlike many natural fibers, alpaca is not itchy and offers a more sustainable alternative to cashmere.
Our fiber is ethically sourced from the Andean highlands of Ecuador. Specifically, our pieces are crafted in Otavalo, in the province of Imbabura, a region world-renowned for its centuries-old textile heritage. By working directly with local communities, we ensure the highest quality materials while supporting traditional Ecuadorian craftsmanship.
Every ECUATORIAL piece is a result of skilled craftsmanship. We combine traditional hand-finishing techniques with heritage looms to create our textiles. While we utilize mechanical looms to ensure the structural integrity and precision of the weave, the intricate finishing, detailing, and quality control are meticulously handled by the hands of our master artisans.
Absolutely. Alpacas have a low environmental impact due to their efficient grazing habits. We partner with artisans in Ecuador who are paid fair wages and work with traditional, small-batch methods that respect both the environment and the cultural legacy of the Otavalo people.

Care & Preservation

We recommend professional dry cleaning to maintain the beauty and integrity of alpaca fibers. For select items like blankets and scarves, gentle hand washing in cold water with mild detergent may be an option. Always dry flat, never wring, and store folded in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
For long-term care, store alpaca products in breathable cotton bags with natural repellents like cedar or lavender. Avoid plastic storage, which can trap moisture and damage the natural fibers.
